IDP Empowerment & Education
In IDP empowerment, the idea is to provide training and build activities aimed at empowering the Internally Displaced Persons in Nigeria...This is like the project on educating orphans but in this case, LOTU will raise funds in order to not only help IDP children once-in-school find their way back to school but to provide relief materials, organize educational programs for IDP, provide them with training on innovation and entrepreneurship while also demonstrating the Islamic Teachings on Charity so that they can empower other less privileged once they become independent. “…And do good to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbours who are near, neighbours who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess. For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious” (Surat An-Nisa, Qur’an 4:36).
Give Up For a Good Cause
In this project, the idea is to give up a small amount of your daily, weekly, or monthly spending to the less privileged. LOTU will then use these funds to offset hospital bills, renovate mosques or build boreholes for disadvantaged communities. It is hoped that this will inculcate the culture of charity among the youth.
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam said “The believers’ shade on the day of resurrection will be their charity” (Al- Tirmidhi, Hadith 604).
Feed For A Good Cause
This project is executed in form of marketing for selected restaurants. LOTU will organize with a restaurant to donate a fixed amount of money for every patron on a certain period. With assistance from many local TV and radio stations LOTU will promote the restaurant wildly to create a buzz around the cause. Funds realized from this project will be used to feed the less privileged.
Sponsor & Educate an Orphan
This project will be executed in form of a campaign for orphan children to put them through primary and secondary schooling with support from donors. Many orphanages face severe financial challenges with no basic amenities and food supplies. Priority is given to addressing these challenges, thus neglecting aspects like educational development of the orphans. Meanwhile, it is possible to educate an orphan with as little as ₦2000, ₦3000 or ₦3500. LOTU will collect these funds and provide orphans with books, uniforms, stationary or school bag. In addition, LOTU will give the sponsors an opportunity to visit the orphans and see the impact of their donation in their lives.
Sahl ibn Sa’ad reported: The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam said “The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this” and he held his two fingers together to illustrate (Sahih Bukhari 5659).
